Parents say mental health and belonging are as vital to school safety as building security

1 in 6 parents rate themselves as extremely or very concerned about safety at their child's school. To address school safety issues, 3 in 5 parents endorse an equal focus of building security/law enforcement and student mental health/belonging. 1 in 4 parents feel their child's school is doing too little to hold parents accountable for students who may cause safety problems.

1 in 4 parents say their child has a medical or behavioral health condition that requires assistance at school. Parents of a child with a medical or behavioral health condition are less confident they can help their child have a positive school year. Half of parents would like school programs to learn how to support their child's mental health.
